Detailed description of China Lake Golf Course
China Lake Golf Course, is a Military, 18 hole golf course located in China Lake, California.
The China Lake Golf Course first opened for play in 1956. The course was designed by William F. Bell.
Located on Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, Calif., the China Lake Golf Course is a pinnacle for golfers in the High Desert. China Lake is in a beautiful valley setting, where year-round golfing is the norm. The challenging 18-hole layout incorporates many water and sand hazards, and includes a full-practice facility. Even though this course was built on flat terrain, it is still very demanding. There are many greenside sand bunkers incorporated into the course's design. The PGA Qualifying Tournament was held here in 1994, as well as The Players West Tournament.
The 18th hole is a challenging par-5 that longer hitters can reach in two. The tee box sets up with a view of the new clubhouse, while two bunkers and a lake on the right side guard the green.
The China Lake Golf Course plays to 6,832 yards. Par for the course is 72. The course rating from the Blue tees is 72.6 with a 124 slope rating.

The course is in better condition than it has been in a number of years. The new greens keeper has done an excellent job in improving the fairways, greens and general appearance of the entire course.

Course has greatly improved lately with new course super. Only course in area,would still highly recommend.

A new greens manager has made tremendous improvements in a short time. The damage done by the snow geese is non-existent. Seeding has taken care of the problem. The greens are superb. The price is unbeatable. They have started to work on the sand traps. It is very difficult to put light fluffy sand in them when the wind can blow hard, at times, and scatter the sand. You would not know it was the same course as of six months ago.

Very poor condition. Geese have torn the place to bits, lack of real maintenence, bunkers are a disgrace. It would be easier to play of the parking lot than the bunkers. Only saving grace is its cheap, $10. Suppose you get what you pay for

The course is a little torn up right now due to thousands of snow geese but will soon be in good shape like always.

Great experience for the price! Get rid of the geese! They destroy the fairways.
